Baby Episode #6

Coming next week – our old pal Jeremy Guskin talks about Father Guido Sarducci’s (Don Novello) album “Breakfast in Heaven.”  Very difficult to find, and out of print, this one was a big influence on Jeremy.  Since the episode isn’t up this week, I thought I’d give you a taste of this album – after my brief talky-talk, you’ll get one of the great tracks from this album.

Also, if you’re in LA, go see Jeremy’s show!  And like it here: http://www.facebook.com/UncleJermysSmyleHour

Episode 40 – James Urbaniak on The Odd Couple Sings

This week, we’re visited again by James Urbaniak.  The album?  “The Odd Couple Sings.”  One of the many from the period you’ll now find filed under “personality” or “oddities,” if you can find it at all, this album is a snapshot of pop culture of the 70s.  This was what multi-platform looked like at the time, and there’s been nothing since.  Enjoy!

Episode 39 – Jesse Thorn on Whoopi Goldberg – The Broadway Show

This week’s episode was recorded at Maximum Fun HQ in Los Angeles.  Why, you ask?  Because this week’s guest is none other than Jesse Thorn, host of Jordan, Jesse, Go! and host of Bullseye.  This week, Jesse introduces me to an album I knew nothing about, and reminds me just how amazing Whoopi Goldberg is.

Episode 38 – Adam X. Storm and Josh Mills on Ernie Kovacs – Percy Dovetonsils Thpeaks

This week, we talk with Adam X. Storm and Josh Mills about the NEW Ernie Kovacs record!  Yes, you read that right – new.  “Percy Dovetonsils… Thpeaks” was compiled from a recording that was thought to be lost.  When it was discovered, Josh Mills (son of Edie Adams, Ernie’s wife) managed to put together a great compilation from Ernie’s most well-known character.  This episode, we talk at length again about Adam’s personal history with and love for Ernie Kovacs, as well as Josh’s history with Ernie and his life as a young kid in Hollywood.

Episode 36 – Katie Levine on Jerry Seinfeld – Im Telling You For the Last Time

This week, I talk to Nerdist podcast producer Katie Levine.  She wanted to talk about Jerry Seinfeld’s “I’m Telling You For the Last Time.”  I hadn’t heard it in forever, but I’m glad she brought me back to it.  When not producing shows, Katie also has her own awesome podcast, Save it For Air.

Episode 35 – Mo Fathelbab on Chris Rock – Bigger and Blacker

Listening to Chris Rock’s “Bigger and Blacker” is, according to this week’s guest, listening to someone at the top of their game.  It’s hard to argue with.  It’s a strange mix of standup and sketch, but Chris Rock manages to make it work, turning a whole lot of people (like myself) around.  Before this, I knew him mostly as the guy with some guest spots on “In Living Color.”  After this, I got it.
This week’s guest is Mo Fathelbab.  He runs NerdMelt – Chris Hardwick’s Nerdist Theater at Meltdown Comics – and is the co-creator of “Nerdterns,” a new webseries coming to the Nerdist Channel in August/September.  He sat down with me in the back of NerdMelt to talk about this album and his comedy influences.  A fun time was had by both.  Mostly me.
